Lynn Hispanic Scholarship Fund at Connect for Community: Elevating Latino Youth Voices

On August 16, 2025, the Lynn Hispanic Scholarship Fund (LHSF) had the privilege of participating in the Connect for Community civic engagement series hosted at El Centro Lynn. The event, organized by Millennium Latino Project, created an important space for residents to engage with Lynn School Committee members and candidates, learn about their roles, and understand why staying informed matters.

As part of the community tabling, LHSF shared our mission of empowering Latino youth through scholarships, mentorship, and leadership development. We also introduced our vision for 2026: expanding our reach, deepening our impact, and building stronger pathways to higher education and leadership opportunities for Lynn students.

This opportunity allowed us to connect directly with community members, partners, and candidates, ensuring that the priorities of Latino youth remain at the center of conversations about education and policy.

Beyond sharing our work, the event was also a powerful moment of learning. We had the chance to connect with other local organizations, exchange ideas, and explore new ways to collaborate. Most importantly, we listened to School Committee candidates as they shared their perspectives and commitments to Lynn’s youth, particularly the Latino student population, who represent a growing and vibrant part of our community.

Why It Matters

Civic engagement events like Connect for Community remind us that leadership is not just about decision-making, it’s about listening, understanding, and working together to ensure every student has the opportunity to thrive. For the Lynn Hispanic Scholarship Fund, this means advocating for Latino youth, ensuring they have access to resources, and elevating their voices in every space where decisions about their future are made.

We are grateful to Millennium Latino Project for creating this space for dialogue and collaboration. As we continue to grow our programs and prepare for our 2026 initiatives, we remain committed to strengthening partnerships, amplifying youth voices, and ensuring Latino students in Lynn have the tools, support, and opportunities they deserve.

Together, we can build a stronger, more equitable future.

This is a tremendous commitment by the Lynn Hispanic Scholarship Fund to fund pay for dissertation-level dreams by amplifying Latino youth voices and providing real access to educational opportunity. The article reminds us all how connecting at Connect for Community bridge scholarship, mentorship, and policy discussions. The call to listen and elevate student voices demonstrates how advocacy is as important as financial investment. In all, by centering Latino students in decision-making contexts, LHSF shows how investments in the community can turn dreams into doctoral experiences.
