Celebrating Our Scholars
This past Friday, the Lynn Hispanic Scholarship Fund (LHSF) hosted an unforgettable evening to honor twelve exceptional students—each one a rising star, ready to leave their mark on the world. Surrounded by family, mentors, and community members, we came together to celebrate not just academic achievement, but the resilience, ambition, and unshakable spirit of our youth.

At LHSF, our mission goes beyond scholarships. We are here to empower the next generation of Hispanic leaders in Lynn with mentorship, resources, and unwavering support as they pursue higher education and brighter futures. Events like this remind us that every investment in a student is a seed planted in our community.
From a powerful keynote by former LHSF scholar Andres R. Tejeda, to heartfelt remarks by Mayor Jared Nicholson, the night was filled with emotion, pride, and purpose. Our emcees, Faustina Jarolyn Cuevas and Carlos Quintanilla, brought so much warmth and joy to the celebration, creating a space where every student felt seen and honored.
This fall, we’ll continue this work with an evening of celebration, community, and purpose (date and location coming soon). Funds raised will go toward scholarships for the next generation of dreamers, doers, and changemakers.
Let’s keep building a future where Hispanic students thrive. Where they walk into every room knowing they belong.
To our twelve scholars: you inspire us. Your hard work, passion, and perseverance are a light in this community. The theme of the night was Rising Stars, and you truly are just that.
From a powerful keynote by former LHSF scholar Andres R Tejeda, to heartfelt remarks by Mayor Jared Nicholson, the night was filled with emotion, pride, and purpose. Our emcees, Faustina Jarolyn Cuevas, M.Ed (she/ella) and Carlos Quintanilla, brought so much warmth and joy to the celebration, creating a space where every student felt seen and honored.
We had the privilege of hearing from three remarkable students who shared how their Hispanic/Latino identities have shaped their educational journeys and dreams for the future. Valeria Mendez from Lynn English, Guadalupe Sierra Atehortua from KIPP Academy, and Samuel Estuardo Aguilon Lopez, also from Lynn English, each read powerful personal essays that reminded us why this work matters and why our students continue to rise.
This year, we awarded 12 scholarships ranging from $2,000 to $5,000, including three very special recognitions. Cristian A. Garcia Bermúdez received the inaugural 4 Insurance NextGen Business Leader Scholarship. Densel B. Gomez was honored with the Jandriel Heredia Scholarship. And Marianah Danielle Pagán was awarded the Founder’s Scholarship, celebrating the legacy of our founder, Maria Luz (Lucy) Tizol.
Thank you for being part of our mission to empower the next generation of Latino leaders. We hope to see you again soon!
